Tisna Sanjaya: Remembrance of Ideocracy
All artworks in this preview are taken from Tisna Sanjaya’s Solo Exhibition in late 2008: Ideocracy: Rethinking the Regime of Etchings, Curated by Jim Supangkat and Rizki A. Zaelani. The exhibition was granted by the most known Indonesian magazine, Tempo, as the best exhibition of 2008.
Ideocracy: Rethinking the Regime of Etchings exhibition was held to reveal Tisna’s etching works from the periods of the 1980s-1990s. More than 70 legendary etching works of Tisna’s were presented, and It was an honor for ArtSociates to have the opportunity to introduce the works of Tisna Sanjaya to the public. We couldn’t appreciate enough Prof. Carl Christoph Schulz’s effort to retrieve the etching plates from Braunschweig, Germany, to the artist’s homeland in Indonesia.
Deden Durahman, a disciple of Prof. Carl Christoph Schulz and a German graduate, meticulously printed each of the work, on Hahnemühle paper in limited edition, which consists of one exhibition proof, two artist proofs, two editions, and one archive proof for each plate + one print on canvas with the artist’s consent.
All prints are marked, titled, and signed by Tisna Sanjaya.
