BIOGRAPHY
Michael Binuko a.k.a Koxis Verseken
BIAK, INA, 1987
Michael Binuko Sri Herawan (Koko) was born in Biak, August 31, 1987. He was completing his studies in the Fine Arts department of the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2010 with a specialization in Printmaking. He completed his master's program at the same campus in 2015.
Since his university days, Koko has been interested in visuals related to nature and industry. His interest then greatly influenced his sensitivity in viewing landscapes containing industrial objects around him. Koko is interested in visuals that are far from being pretentious (or often overlooked) but seem to describe the intrigue between nature and industrial objects, which on the other hand, are presented side by side as a contrasting combination.
Koko has been involved in several national and international exhibitions and has received a Young Artist Award at Art | Jog | 13. Koko also had become a finalist in several other artistic gift events. In 2014, Koko had a solo exhibition entitled “Fabel Mikroskopik” (Griya Gerilya, Bandung). Several group exhibitions worth mentioning are 2019 "ART Jakarta 2019", JCC Senayan, Jakarta 2019 "Dua Nusa Merombak Batas”, Rumah Seni Selangor, Selangor, Malaysia. Koko was a lecturer at the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture (Institut Seni dan Budaya Indonesia/ISBI) Bandung in 2018-2019. Since 2019 he has been a permanent lecturer at ITB.
